TxDOT will hold a Nov. 17 open house in Schertz and post online materials for its proposed FM 3009 realignment; comments are due Dec. 2.

The proposal covers about 1.7 miles from Borgfeld/Elbel Road to FM 78 in Guadalupe County, including an overpass interchange above FM 78 and the Union Pacific Railroad.

Schertz-area drivers and property owners can examine the proposed route and submit comments before TxDOT’s Dec. 2 deadline. TxDOT says the project could require about 29.5 acres of new right of way, subject to final design considerations. The notice describes ramps connecting FM 3009 and FM 78, sidewalks and shared-use paths; it does not announce an approved final design.

The open house runs from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, at the Schertz Community Center, 1400 Schertz Parkway. Attendees can review printed materials and a recorded presentation, ask TxDOT staff and consultants questions, and give written or verbal comments to a court reporter. TxDOT says it will post the same presentation and meeting materials online by 5 p.m. that day.

Comments may also be emailed to FM3009@kimley-horn.com or mailed to Kimley-Horn, Attn: FM 3009, 2600 N Central Expressway, Suite 400, Richardson, TX 75080. They must be received by Wednesday, Dec. 2. Anyone needing interpretation, translation or an accommodation to participate should call (972) 776-1726 by 4 p.m. Nov. 10.

TxDOT says it will post responses to received comments after they are prepared. The next record to watch is that response and any resulting design update. Residents can use the project notice to check the meeting arrangements, review materials when posted and verify the comment instructions.
