Navarro ISD is asking trustees to authorize a LASO Cycle 5 application that could support literacy tools, summer school and teacher preparation.

The district’s board action sheet lists those opportunities as potential uses of the state program, with applications due Dec. 1, 2026, at 5 p.m.

The district’s Oct. 26 action sheet requests authority to apply; it does not record a board decision or grant award.

For Navarro students, the listed opportunities include early literacy intervention tools and support for the district’s current summer school program. The district also identifies two teacher preparation allotments: one for paid student teaching and another for clinical experience before alternative-route candidates become teachers of record.

Navarro says earlier LASO cycles helped it put reading and math instructional materials in place and sustain a full-time reading and language arts instructional coach. Its new proposal seeks permission for the superintendent or a designee to apply. The action sheet does not establish that trustees have approved the request or that the district has received a Cycle 5 award.

The action sheet describes $400 million available across the statewide cycle’s initiatives. That is a statewide figure, not an award to Navarro or a stated amount for its proposed application. The sheet lists several possible programs; an authorization to apply would still leave the district’s final selections and any award to be established later.

Trustees have scheduled the proposal as item 7.C at their Oct. 26, 6 p.m. meeting in the Intermediate School Cafeteria, 588 Link Road in Seguin. The posted agenda says people wishing to speak during public participation must sign up before the meeting is called to order. Residents can inspect the item and its attachments in the official agenda, then watch for the board’s recorded action and the district’s application before the Dec. 1 deadline.
