Schertz canceled the Main Street Committee's Oct. 27 meeting and rescheduled it for Thursday, Oct. 29.

Main Street businesses and residents can attend the rescheduled meeting before the committee discusses possible grant changes and corridor plans. The committee is scheduled to meet Thursday, Oct. 29, at 6 p.m. in the Hal Baldwin Municipal Complex Council Chambers, 1400 Schertz Parkway, Building #4.

The Oct. 29 posting carries the committee's six numbered items after the Oct. 27 meeting was canceled.

The meeting date changed, but the posted subjects carried over. The earlier Oct. 27 posting scheduled discussion of the grant program, the improvement project, corridor spaces and trees. The new Oct. 29 agenda retains those subjects.

Grant rules and corridor work

For a business weighing an application, the grant discussion is the item to watch. The Oct. 29 agenda schedules discussion and direction on modifications to the Main Street Local Flavor Economic Grant Program. The meeting record will show what, if anything, members recommend.

An earlier grant discussion helps explain why the subject is returning. The packet's draft minutes from Aug. 12, 2025, describe cemetery flat work and treatment of apartments. They record committee consensus to send a modification to City Council for later discussion and action. Those minutes describe a past discussion, not a decision at the rescheduled meeting.

Item 3 schedules an update on the Main Street Improvement Project. The same draft minutes describe easements, utilities, sidewalks and pavement, lights, and landscaping as work or next steps discussed in August 2025. Thursday's update could clarify the project's current status.

Item 4 schedules discussion of public use of Main Street Corridor spaces. People who run businesses or visit the corridor can hear what uses committee members raise. The scheduled discussion does not establish a use or rule.

Item 6 schedules discussion of Main Street trees. Readers can follow that conversation separately from the project update and corridor-space discussion. The meeting record will show whether members recommend any next step.

How to take part

Residents can speak before the committee turns to its six numbered items. The agenda places a Hearing of Residents before that business. Anyone wishing to speak must register before the meeting, and presentations are limited to three minutes.

Past committee work comes first on Thursday. Item 1 schedules consideration of the Aug. 12, 2025, minutes. Item 2 schedules a review of the Main Street effort's history, goals and objectives. The project and grant discussions follow.

The posting lists Jan. 26, 2027, as the next meeting date after Thursday. The Oct. 29 meeting record can show what grant direction emerged and what members heard about project work, corridor spaces and trees. Readers can check the official Oct. 29 agenda and packet for the scheduled topics and participation details.
