Guadalupe County says five of its facilities will display green lights from Nov. 4 through Nov. 11 for Veterans Day.

The county announced the plan Monday as part of Operation Green Light for Veterans, a national county initiative intended to show support for veterans and draw attention to available resources.

Residents can see the tribute at the historic County Courthouse, Veteran Outreach Center, Elections Administration Office, Development Center and Schertz Service Center. The county invites households and businesses to display a green light of their own during the same period.

The county also announced a free Chili Pachanga Cook-off at the Veteran Outreach Center, 205 E. Weinert St. in Seguin, on Thursday, Nov. 12, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. According to the release, 12 agencies will offer chili samples, with veterans and first responders competing and attendees voting for a winner.

The release gives the display dates but does not set lighting hours or announce a change to county services. Residents can inspect the county’s facility list and event details in the Nov. 2 announcement; any later county notice would be the place to check for a more precise lighting schedule.
