Your household’s water provider sets the watering restrictions you need to follow, so check its current-stage notice before using its Stage 3 rules.

The City of Schertz says Stage 3 is in effect for its water customers under an Oct. 25 notice. A Guadalupe County address alone does not tell you which of the rules below applies to your water service.

Schertz’s Oct. 25, 2026 notice confirms Stage 3 restrictions and gives an address-based watering schedule.

Schertz water customers have a confirmed Stage 3 address-digit schedule; the cited Green Valley, East Central and Seguin documents do not establish those providers’ current stages. Green Valley SUD and East Central SUD publish Stage 3 rules, while Seguin publishes a drought contingency plan. Use those documents to understand the rules, then check the provider’s current notice before acting.

Start with the name on your water bill

The four documents describe different water systems, not one countywide schedule. If your bill names another provider, use that provider’s current notice and rules. Even where two providers use the words “Stage 3,” their permitted watering methods, days and hours can differ.

The brief cells are expanded and qualified in the sections below. Seguin’s Stage 3 schedule could not be verified from the available plan extract.

Schertz: follow the address-digit schedule now

Schertz prohibits sprinkler systems during its active Stage 3 restrictions. Handheld watering and drip irrigation are allowed before 8 a.m. or after 8 p.m. on one designated weekday: Monday for addresses ending in 0 or 1, Tuesday for 2 or 3, Wednesday for 4 or 5, Thursday for 6 or 7, and Friday for 8 or 9. The city also prohibits filling or topping off pools and hot tubs, car washing, power washing, washing hard surfaces and water use for dust control. Its notice attributes the restrictions to a water shortage after a major transmission line break affected a Schertz Seguin Local Government Corporation treatment plant.

Green Valley and East Central: compare the rule, then verify the stage

Green Valley SUD’s Stage 3 page permits irrigation systems, sprinklers and soaker hoses once every other week on a designated day, before 10 a.m. or after 8 p.m.; it bars weekend sprinkler watering. Hand watering with a handheld hose, drip irrigation, bucket or watering can is allowed Monday, Wednesday and Friday during those hours. The page prohibits washing paved surfaces and permits residential car washing once a week on Saturday or Sunday without water waste. Its Stage 3 page explains the rules but does not, by itself, give a dated confirmation that Stage 3 is active today.

East Central SUD’s Stage 3 flyer allows irrigation systems, automatic sprinklers or soaker hoses from midnight to 10 a.m. or 8 p.m. to midnight on designated days. Even-numbered final address digits are assigned Thursday or Sunday; odd digits Wednesday or Saturday. A handheld hose is limited to the designated day. The flyer separately allows up to two hours once a week for foundation watering within two feet and tree watering, using specified methods without runoff. It limits pool filling to designated days and hours and prohibits washing hard surfaces and other nonessential uses. The flyer is a rule sheet, so customers should verify the current stage with East Central SUD.

Seguin: check the current notice and the full plan

Seguin’s 2024 drought plan says outdoor watering is prohibited year-round from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., except that a handheld hose, handheld watering device or drip irrigation system may be used at any time under that year-round provision. The available extract does not establish the plan’s Stage 3 schedule or whether that stage is active. Seguin customers should consult the full plan and ask the city’s Water Department which current restrictions govern before relying on the year-round exception.

For the next check, use your provider’s official page or contact it directly: Schertz lists 311 or 210-619-1000 on its active notice; Green Valley SUD lists 830-914-2330 on its Stage 3 page; and Seguin lists 830-379-3212 on its Water Department page. Ask which stage applies to your service address today and whether a newer notice changes the posted rule.
