Guadalupe County’s adopted FY2027 budget projects $3,739,540 more property-tax revenue than last year’s budget even as countywide taxable value falls from $21.98 billion in 2025 to $20.90 billion in 2026.

The figures come from a Guadalupe.News extraction of the county’s FY2027 budget; the budget’s opening property-tax notice also states the revenue increase.

From the source record

Guadalupe County FY2027 budgeted increase over the prior budget; remainder calculated by Guadalupe.News from the budget figures.Revenue figures are budget projections, not parcel-level tax bills.

County taxpayers as a group face a budget that projects $3,739,540 more in property-tax revenue than last year’s budget. New property supplies most of that increase. The comparison concerns countywide collections, so it is not a forecast for any particular parcel.

The two numbers moving in opposite directions

The budget lists countywide taxable value of $21.98 billion for 2025 and $20.90 billion for 2026. That is a $1.08 billion decline, about 4.9% of the 2025 figure. Taxable value is the base to which a levy applies; it is a different measure from the dollars the county expects to collect.

Value yearTaxable valueNew property value
2025$21.98 billionAbout $921.5 million
2026$20.90 billionAbout $864.2 million

Values are from a Guadalupe.News extraction of the county budget and are rounded as reported there.

The new-property line is about $921.5 million for 2025 and $864.2 million for 2026. Those are values added to the tax base, not the tax revenue attributed to new property. Keeping the two measures apart matters here: a smaller new-property value and higher projected revenue can both appear in the same budget.

Where the revenue increase comes from

The county projects $3,018,691 of the higher property-tax revenue from new property. Subtracting new-property revenue from the $3,739,540 total increase leaves $720,849 from the rest of the revenue change. That subtraction describes the budget’s revenue arithmetic; it does not identify which appraisal categories drove the decline in taxable value.

The FY2027 budget pairs the 2026 taxable-value figure with its property-tax revenue projection. Readers can inspect the county’s budget and its opening tax notice for the projected increase. The next useful check is the certified county levy worksheet: it can put the value categories and levy inputs beside one another, then support a separate calculation at a fixed taxable home value.
