Radios used by county fire prevention and emergency management services would move into a capital equipment budget category under a proposed transfer. The change would reclassify money already budgeted for the equipment, without adding to the radio budget.

Guadalupe County commissioners are scheduled to consider moving $90,000 already assigned to eight radios from controlled assets to capital equipment. The proposed accounting change concerns three mobile radios and five portable radios in county Fire Code and Fire Marshal/emergency management budgets. The Fire Marshal's Office describes its work as fire prevention, inspections, code enforcement and investigations in unincorporated Guadalupe County. The amendment concerns equipment for that service, though it does not establish a change in response times or coverage.

From the source record

Proposed budget amendmentBudget Amendment 27-11
To transfer funds from the controlled assets to capital equipment for three mobile radios and 5 portable radios in the Fire Code Fund and the Fire Marshal EMC budget.

The proposed amendment moves $90,000 between budget categories for the same eight radios.

The amendment assigns $68,000 of the transfer to the Fire Code fund and $22,000 to the Fire Marshal/emergency management budget. Its equipment list shows two mobile and four portable radios in the first fund, plus one mobile and one portable radio in the second. The amounts on the “from” and “to” sides match.

The county's Nov. 3, 2026, agenda places Budget Amendment 27-11 before commissioners. The amendment form itself displays “Wednesday, November 3, 2027” as the court date, a discrepancy with the agenda. Residents can inspect the linked amendment for the fund and equipment breakdown, then check the county's posted meeting record for the decision after Nov. 3.
