Guadalupe County residents can apply to serve on the Appraisal Review Board by submitting its application by Dec. 31, 2026. The Guadalupe Appraisal District says it is taking applications for five vacancies for the 2027–28 term. The district's board of directors appoints the members.
The board hears property appraisal and exemption disputes affecting Guadalupe Appraisal District property owners. Members weigh evidence in matters brought before them. The board is separate from the appraisal office: it does not appraise property or run the district's daily operations. Its authority to change a value depends on the type of matter before it; a change made in a taxpayer protest affects the property in question.

Who can apply
An applicant must currently live in Guadalupe County and must have lived there for at least the past two years. The application lists restrictions involving certain government employment or service, delinquent taxes, government contracts, prior paid representation before the board, and previous district or board service. Read its full eligibility section before applying; the form also asks about relationships and other possible conflicts.
Real estate, appraisal or legal experience is encouraged, according to the district, but is not required. This is paid service, though the application describes it as neither full-time nor permanent. Applicants should consider the hearing schedule: the district says hearings at its Seguin office can occupy several weekdays during busy months and may extend into evenings or weekends. Members must be available when needed; the application says they are not usually scheduled every weekday.
