Seguin plans to close the southern Walnut Springs Trail from beneath the South Austin Street vehicular bridge to the Pecan Bottom Trail in Max Starcke Park East on Monday, Oct. 26, until further notice.
The city attributes the closure to force-main work for its Geronimo Creek wastewater project. Its Oct. 16 closure notice identifies the affected section.

The southern section of Walnut Springs Trail will close beginning Monday, October 26, until further notice.City of Seguin ↗
The closure will interrupt the trail connection between Max Starcke Park East and the library, Walnut Springs Park and downtown Seguin. People approaching from the north will also lose the trail route into Max Starcke Park East at this segment. The city’s notice describes the affected connection in both directions.
What remains open
The one-mile Pecan Bottom Trail loop remains open for now, according to the city. Disc golf hole 17 closed beginning Oct. 19. Seguin expects additional closures affecting the loop and disc golf in January 2027 as the wastewater work continues.
The city expects construction to last several months. Before heading out, trail users can check Seguin’s official closure notice for the section affected and for any later access updates.
